Insects have a long history of coevolution with plants. For about four hundred million years they have been their old enemies as well as irreplaceable partners. We are studying insect diversity, ecological functions and interacting processes with plants and microbes, in order to promote the ecological services by insects, i.e. pest regulation, pollination, nutrient cycling and cultural services. Our main research topics are taxonomy, genetics, behavior and evolution of parasitoid wasps and predatory insects as bio-control agents against agricultural and forestry pests. We are also interested in the biology and conservation of insect pollinators and culturally important insects.
